SAARC Nationals Counter at BIA Coinciding with the commencement of the SAARC Council of Ministers' Meeting in Islamabad on 19th July 2004, a SAARC Nationals Counter has been opened at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Colombo. The proposal to establish a counter dedicated to SAARC nationals was also raised by the representatives of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry when they called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Lakshman Kadirgamar on July 1, 2004. The SAARC Nationals Counter will expedite entry formalities for visitors of SAARC countries on arrival in Sri Lanka. The opening of the counter also reflects Sri Lanka's commitment to promoting people to people contact among SAARC countries, as well as encouraging business links and tourism with other SAARC countries. |
