CCC, Czech Economic Chamber to promote trade ties The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic (ECCR) to promote and extend business relations between Sri Lanka and the Czech Republic. Members of the CCC are availed of opportunities of establishing contacts with their business counterparts in the Czech Republic by making use of Ceylon Chamber's links with the ECCR. The MoU signed by the Chairman, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Tilak De Zoysa and Vice President of the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic, Josef Cilek, agreed to promote and exchange economic and other information for trade development and economic co-operation between the two nations. Visits of trade delegations from both counties would be facilitated as a result of the MoU, under mutually beneficial conditions. The two chambers of commerce will assist each other in organising national and international exhibitions, conferences and joint meetings to further trade. They will also decide on publishing joint information bulletins by reviewing future needs. Conditions will also be created to establish Bilateral Economic Committees for co-operation in future. Trade between the two countries will benefit as a result of the MoU. The Czech Republic joined the European Union in May 2004. Officials of ECCR and CCC had said earlier that the chamber has launched a program "Strategic Partnership for Small and Medium Sized Companies" to establish long-standing partnership between Czech Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) and the SMEs of other countries. |
