Focus on fundamentally sound stocks

Investors with high positive sentiment continued to make the Colombo Bourse bullish yesterday signalling a possible vibrant record breaking entry in the coming few days.

According to stock brokers, the momentum is mainly due to investor maturity on fundamentals and the present invigorating political climate supported by the impending quarterly financial results of the companies.

The day's outstanding transaction was the changing hands of a parcel of 4.3 million shares of Distilleries at attractive prices. Rs 1.97 milion shares of JKH and around Rs 2.2 million shares of SLT were also traded at attractive prices.

They said that the focus was heavily on fundamentally sound stocks and the impending quarterly results would also help to further boost the market.

The All Share Index jumped to 1,390.05 points from 1,379.29 points on Monday. The Milanka Price Index to increased to 2,112.95 points to 2,094.71 points on Tuesday.
