President concerned about threat to CFA

The President is deeply concerned over last week's incidents of violence in Colombo and the East which threaten to disrupt the Ceasefire Agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), obstructing the permanent peace that we all seek, states a press release issued by the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The President considers the decisive verdict at last week's Provincial Council Elections a clear endorsement of the UPFA Government's policies including its peace policy of maintaining the Ceasefire Agreement and resuming peace negotiations with the LTTE towards the establishment of an interim authority and a lasting solution to our conflict within a united and democratic Sri Lanka.
