Bishop of Colombo calls on Mahanayake Thera The Rt Revd Duleep de Chickera, Bishop of Colombo of the Church of Ceylon, accompanied by the Revd Dr. Jayasiri Peiris, of the Faculty of Theological College of Lanka at Pilimatalawa, paid a courtesy call on the Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera on June 28. The Bishop offered the congratulations and good wishes of the Diocese of Colombo of the Church of Ceylon on the appointment as Head of the Malwatte Chapter of the Siyam Nikaya. The Bishop said the country looked forward to the enlightened leadership of the Mahanayake on issues of the country. Religious leaders of the calibre of the Mahanayake could play an important role in this task. The Mahanayake thanked the Bishop for his visit and pledged his commitment to the task of addressing the problems of the people in a just and fair manner. The Bishop assured the Mahanayake that in this task, he would have the solidarity and prayers of the Diocese of Colombo. |
