Navy-Havelocks clash in sixth place decider

Kandy Sports Club which scored a hard fought 19-13 win over CR and FC lead the points table at the completion of the eighth week of the Caltex Inter-Club 'A' Division League Rugby Tournament.

The defending champions have obtained 28-30 points from seven games having amassed 438 points and conceded 87 points to the opponents. CR and FC lie in second position having collected 27.85 points from eight matches.

The Red Shirts have piled up 341` points and given away 96 points to the opponents.

Last years runners-up of the 'A' Division League CH and FC are in third place with 25.55 points from seven outings. The lads from Maitland Crescent have scored 189 points and conceded 80 points to their opponents.

When the tournament resumes in the first weekend of July the most interesting match will be the clash between seventh placed Sri Lanka Navy and the eighth placed Havelocks Sports Club on July 4 (Sunday) at Havelock Park.

It will be a terrific tussle for supremacy between the Sailors and the lads from Havelock Park as the winners will end up in sixth position and play in the second round of the Cup Championship while the losers will be relegated into the plate competition.

Navy which has a solitary win over the Old Zahirians were also held to an eight all draw by the Air Force while the Havelocks have lost six matches out of seven despite fielding two Samoans - No. 8 stope Kapeli and centre Manasi Nono.
