by Rohan Mathes The United Nations World Food Organisation (WFO) has compiled a Poverty/Food Insecurity map of Badulla District, a close aide of the Prime Minister's Office said. The map has been prepared taking into account all the poverty/food insecurity factors in the District, denoting three classified degrees of poverty-as very poor, poor and not so poor, within the Grama Niladari Divisions. The map could be used for the location of priority Grama Niladari Divisions in the Development and Poverty Alleviation programs of the Badulla District. As it is intended to make this study once in three years, this map could be utilised to examine the progress of the development projects. The first copy of the report was presented to the Prime Minister's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga yesterday by WFO representative in Sri Lanka, Geoff Taft Dick. The Advisor to the study program, Dr. Amara Satharasinghe was also present. |
