Out of the top 10 per cent on the merit list for Engineering, 81 of the 87 students, entered the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Moratuwa in 2003. This is 94 per cent of those eligible from the GCE 'A' Level Mathematics stream. At the examination results released on June 23, the Faculty has produced 71 First Class Honours Graduates (17 per cent of the batch) and 240 second Class Honours Graduates (58 per cent of the batch). The largest percentage of first Class Honours has been in Electronics Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dayantha Wijeyesekera attributes these excellent results to the good quality of students entering the University of Moratuwa and the University academic staff's commitment. Engineering Faculty Dean Professor Ananda Jayawardena said; "When we get good students we produce good results". Prof. Wijeyesekera said all these graduates will be employed in no time. |
