Virtusa appoints Lankan to CWEG Samisa Abeysinghe, a Technology Specialist from the Virtusa Research and Development (R&D) Group was recognised for his research initiative when he was appointed a member of the Collaboration at Work Expert Group (CWEG), a work group formed by the European Commission Information Society. The work group co-hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA). Virtusa's R&D Group is a centre of excellence with a main focus on technological innovation that delivers competitive advantage to their clients, alongside job satisfaction in using cutting edge technology. The European Commission Information Society strives to underpin European industrial competiveness through research and technological innovation and to ensure that these research initiatives support the EU and its policies. On a global perspective, the society works with many countries and international organisations to represent Europe's interests and actively promote the benefits of the information society to people around the world. Samisa Abeysinghe's recognition within the European Commission's Information Society is not only a significant milestone for Virtusa and the R&D Group but it is also a national achievement and encourages Sri Lanka's talented researchers and developers to contribute globally and place Sri Lanka firmly on the global IT map. |
