HP ready to help Lanka reap benefits of digital printing

Hewlett-Packard (HP) would play a robust role to help shift Sri Lanka's printing and imaging industry from analogue to digital to keep pace with the global development said Vice President of Supplies , Business for the Imaging and Printing Group in Asia Pacific , Vincent Vanderpoel .

Vanderpoel who was in the country recently to update the skills of the Sri Lankan ICT community on printing , inking and imaging in an interview with Daily News said that Sri Lanka has the potential in achieving immediate results from the latest technology and his company is ready to work in synergy with commercial and consumer segments to assist reap the benefits of the digital printing and imaging. "We would make technology affordable for Sri Lankans while assisting Small and Medium Enterprises to apply digital technology in their manufacturing process so that they would be able to find new vistas in the business.

We would also grant extended warranty for HP products in the Sri Lankan market while making available low end and high end equipment such as scanners, All In One products ,Indigo Press and mobile peripherals. High End products would give solutions to better manage and control the business process", he said.

He said that Sri Lanka which ranks as an emerging country for its business portfolio is gaining ground in the ICT sector fast and since the people in Sri Lanka are becoming ICT savvy , the market stands to grow in manifold in the years to come. Enterprise companies and graphic arts professionals are realizing the advantages of digital content creation and production.

He said from in-house proofing to short-run, on-demand printing, digital work flows ultimately drive more profit.

Marketing Manager, Imaging Printing Group Asia David Ong said that today unlike conventional offset presses, Digital Publishing Solutions offer on-demand printing. In other words, the flexibility for short, fast and cost-effective print runs.

"Digital printing allows a company to print brochures, personalised direct mail, labels, plastic cards and graphic overlays with the immediate data only when it is required. Print on demand is one of the fastest growing segments of the production digital printing market.

HP solutions are also transforming the way digital publishing fits into the marketing communications mix. The most revolutionary step lies in the printing of variable data, which enables real-time targeted marketing. Both texts and images can now be different on every sheet and crafted to the needs and tastes of each recipient. The centerpiece of the HP digital publishing strategy is the HP Indigo digital offset colour press", Ong said.
