UNP MP Moulana tells all:

Ranil stands naked

Ranil Wickremesinghe's watergate National List MP Ali Zahir Moulana has resigned his post as key player stirring a hornests nest in the UNP and causing a massive split among its ranks with several MPs threatening to quit the United National Party in disgust.

Today the Daily News exposes his double tongue, double speak which is ruining the country.

The readers will be shocked to know that this scion of a respectable family has reached such low depths as to inflame communal passion across the nation not only between the Sinhalese and Tamils but between the Tamils themselves.

Today, we carry an absolutely truthful and a authentic story quoting no less than authentic tool used by Rail Wickremesinghe of Ali Zahir Moulana has resigned ingloriously from his UNP National List parliament seat for his traitorous act in providing protection and transport to the breakaway LTTE leader Karuna at a time Sri Lankan Government was trying to forge a permanent for the peace and prosperity of the of the country led by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

The latest development in the UNP has caused such turmoil that according to party sources a major split is likely in the near future with Karu Jayasuriya replacing Ranil Wickremesinghe as the leader of the UNP.

The UNP sources further alleged that on the 7th and 8th of April that 22 TNA MPs were in Colombo to participate in the meeting at Gajendara Kumar Ponnambalam's residence.

However four TNA MPs who supposedly aligned to Karuna who came to Colombo were not to allowed to stay with the others in Colombo.

On the 9th of April the UNP and UPFA submitted their National List nominees to the elections commissioner. On the 10th of April the LTTE commenced his attacks on the Karuna faction.

On the 11th of April Karuna escaped from the East with his team.

These were the events.

It was here onwards that Ali Zahir Moulana and his leader Ranil Wickremesinghe began their joint role in the Karuna issue. Ali Zahir allegedly initimated to Mr. Wickremesinghe that Karuna and the four TNA MPs are under his (Ali Zahir's) control.

Mr. Wickremesinghe then allegedly decided to make maximum use of the situation through Ali Zahir. Ali Zahir too, decided to show his colours to Mr. Wickremesinghe.

The result was getting a slot in the National List ahead of senior politicians such as Tyronne Fernando, Marapone and Azwer. Ranil Wickremesinghe gave into Ali Zahir's pressure.

It is understood that even Security Forces personnel escorting the four TNA MPs (supposedly aligned to Karuna) in Colombo were engineered by Ali Sheer Moulana.

Karuna and his team were allegedly in the personnel care of Ali Zahir. What is worrying the Tamils is that Ranil Wickremesinghe has attempted to use Karuna for his gain.

The UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, who showed a keen vested interest in the peace efforts, accepting the Tigers as sole representatives and signed a Cease Fire Agreement with LTTE is also going the same way.

Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe was believed to be a moderate Sinhala leader by the Tamils, who accepted that the aspirations of the Tamils were just and appeared to be a person willing to find solution to the ethnic crisis in a peaceful manner.

However the Karuna issue has now revealed his turn around. UNP's National List MP Ali Zahir Moulana who assisted Karuna to escape from Batticaloa has now confessed and also gives a host of reasons for his actions.

Ali Zahir did this with the knowledge and blessings of his party leader and is causing the Tamils to be surprised and annoyed".

Meanwhile, Maran a spokesperson to renegade leader Karuna in an voice interview aired over the Thamil Broadcasting Corporation- an independent Tamil radio station operating from London said on Tuesday that their political goal and aspiration is to bring about an economic upliftment and well being of the Tamils and Tamil speaking people in this country and provide education facilities, including higher education facilities to each and everyone who long for and provide gainful employment opportunities for our educated youths.

We work hard to achieve these ends in the near future.
