Expressing concern over the media reports that measures are afoot to take action against him on this issue, Amaraweera explained that when the commotion was in progress, he only requested the Speaker to suspend sittings for a while and immediately convened a meeting of the Party Leaders. This was the practice under similar conditions in the past, the media release said. Stressing that the allegations against him, if proved, he would resign not only his Deputy Minister's portfolio, but also his membership in Parliament, he said that the Freedom Alliance Government will deal with such mean conspiracies and defeat them. |
