by Sarath Malalasekera

The special police teams investigating the incident in Parliament on June 8, on the direction of IGP Indra de Silva yesterday forwarded the statements of three Buddhist monks to the Attorney General for his advice.

The three Buddhist monks are Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera, Ven. Kolonnawe Sumangala Thera and Ven. Akmeemana Dayarathna Thera.

Investigations conducted by Western Province South DIG K. P. P. Pathirana revealed that the special police team had recorded statements over 100 persons including a number of parliamentarians.

The investigators had obtained a video tape in connection with the incident on June 8 in Parliament from Parliament officials.

They had also made a request to the private electronic media to hand over their video tapes to the investigating team to assist them in the probe.
