by Ranil Wijayapala Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said yesterday the Government will provide permanent jobs to all graduates who will be recruited as management trainees and will be placed on appropriate salaries following the completion of their training. "The interviewing of the graduates and the listing will be completed by the end of this month," the Minister added. Addressing the Cabinet press briefing yesterday along with Government spokesman Mangala Samaraweera, Dr. Amunugama said this was the first time any Government in Sri Lanka was providing such a large number of jobs to graduates in a single instance. The Minister said certain groups were spreading rumours that these graduates will be taken for a ride after providing them with training only. "Our objective is to provide them with permanent jobs and place them on appropriate salary scales following the completion of the training period," the Minister added. Dr. Amunugama said with the recruitment of these graduates, the Government will be able to make the State sector more efficient and effective. |
