A comprehensive report on this crisis will be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers very soon, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda said. Minister Dodangoda made this observation when he met a delegation of Public Services Trade Unions at his Ministry recently. They presented him with a number of problems including the salary anomalies and the Agrahara Insurance Scheme that is dormant at the moment. Minister Dodangoda said that in the coming week he would draw the attention of the Cabinet to this problem in the State sector and added that updating the salary scales based on the Tissa Devendra Report was now in progress. All Island Public Service Trade Unions Federation President W. H. Piyadasa, representing the State sector trade union committees stated that the previous regime confused the entire structure of Government service salary scales to console the Health Services Unions demands and that the consequential gaps between various scales created disgust among the public servants. Minister Dodangoda assured them of the continuance of the Agrahara Medical Insurance Scheme. Ministry Secretary S. C. M. Mannapperuma, officials and Trade Union representatives expressed their views at this discussion. |
