The government hope to provide free uniforms to all Daham Pasala teachers in the near future, said Finance Minister, Dr. Sarath Amunugama when he attended the annual prize distribution of the Isipathanarama Daham Pasala, Yatiyalagala, Yatinuwara as the chief guest recently. Dr. Amunugama said that even though this program would involve a high expenditure the government considered it as a sound long-term investment for creating a disciplined young generation rich in moral and spiritual values. Dr. Amunugama said that he formulated a plan to launch a training program for Daham Pasala teachers at the Dambadeniya Teacher Training Institute when he functioned as Education Minister in the previous PA government. He would take immediate steps to implement that plan under the Freedom Alliance Government. He said as Finance Minister he would take measures to inculcate social discipline by levying heavy taxes on drugs, casinos and bookies which tended to corrupt society and degenerated social and cultural values. Ven. Aluthgama Sri Dhammananda Thera presided. Ven. Kolugala Vajiragnana Thera and Freedom Alliance candidate for the forthcoming Central Provincial Council Elections, Dilum Amunugama were also present. |
