CCC seminar on 'Profit maximisation using e-Trade'

The Sri Lankan business community, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has organised a seminar on "Maximise Your Profits Using E-Trading", in association with the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), Taipei, and the International Trade Centre (ITC), Geneva. Prominent industry specialists and resource persons are expected to address the seminar on June 16 from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Trans Asia Hotel.

Among the resource personnel to address the seminar are Roger Megelas, Consultant - E- Commerce, International Trade Centre (ITC) - Geneva, Dr. Lalith Gamage, Managing Director, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology and Ms. Stefania Casappa, Consultant /Trade Officer, International Trade Centre (ITC) - Geneva.

The topics to be discussed are: E-Trade Environment - The changing marketplace; Traditional exports in new ways; Opportunities in new export sectors-Using Information Technology; E-readiness - Checklist for national e-readiness and E-trade strategies.

The seminar is expected to provide opportunities for businesses, which hope to use e-commerce as a platform to promote their businesses. Sharing costs in getting on-line, and creating web sites and maintaining a back office procedure and support will also be discussed along with issues relating to promotion, exports, qualified traffic-management, strategic planning processes and site creation.

Studies indicate that global e-trade is expected to grow significantly to around US$ 1,500 billion in 2005 from US$ 100 billion this year, boosted mainly by business-to-business transactions.

Businesses that react fast to these developments and form their strategies and technologies to suit the Internet's fast-unfolding possibilities would be in an advantageous position with regard to their competitors.

Businessmen are also realising the competitive advantage of employing web-based solutions, which enable efficient information management and enhanced customer service.
