Pepsi Golf challenge 2004 Two international brands - Pepsi and Qatar Airways have joined hands to sponsor a challenging event bringing in international golfers to compete with the Sri Lankan talent. A star-studded field of golfers from UAE & UK will be playing in the inaugural Pepsi Golf Challenge 2004 at the Victoria Golf Club, Rajawella Kandy on May 20 and 21. Some of the top international players are: Trevor Varri - UAE Golf Association - Handicap 6, David Finley - Emirates Golf Club - Handicap 8, Jonathan Watts - UAE Golf Association - Handicap 8, Dean John - UAE Golf Association - Handicap 8. There will also be a strong field of local talent including Binupa Wijesinghe, Alain Gyi, Sanjeewa Wickramanayake who are all familiar with the Victoria layout. The course will be at its Challenging best and the greens will be fast and true at its full length of 6945 yards. Victoria will provide a sturn test and golfers will have to be straight off the tee and able to cope with sloping lies. Attractive prizes await the winners and runners-up which include many attractive prizes and Business Class return air tickets on Qatar Airways. The event is co-sponsored by Hemtours, specialist in golf tours and events, Premadasa Jewellers and Odel Departmental Store. |
