Com-Unity a Blatter concept big success

Asia's and Sri Lanka's first Com-Unity three day workshop which is one of World soccer chief Joseph S. Blatters' concept ended yesterday at the Football House in Colombo. The third day was dedicated for the marketing strategy of soccer in Sri Lanka.

Miss Clare Kenny and Winston Lee, FIFA experts on marketing attached to AFC conducted based in Singapore conducted the days proceedings. Miss Kenny explained how marketing strategies could be introduced in Sri Lanka through its co-operation with the media, and said the present day on this issue TV takes first spot.

TV coverage has heavy bearing towards the promotion of the game. For this purpose the governing body should have a cordial relationship with sponsors as well as the media, they should sit together to discuss matters to benefit both concerned parties.

Sponsors, Print and Electronic Media were well briefed by these two speakers. Many solutions were forwarded to problems that has arisen in this regard. These solutions were shown as many pointed out the difficulties faced by selectors of media.

These two marketing experts were highly impressed with enthusiasm shown by the participants and said that with new strategies Lankan soccer is sure to gain a good market in the future.

Urs Zaniti head of the delegation winding up the final session on the third day said that it was a highly successful workshop though it was the first of its kind. It is heartening to note that Sri Lankan soccer has improved greatly.

This improvement added to new strategies could bring in more good results toward the game of soccer. He paid a high respect for the organiser for a well organised workshop. He said that it was a job well done. He thanked all those who were involved in this successful event.

Zaniti made a special note with regard to participation of leading Government officials and various other social organisations.

This is a good sign, with Minister's assistance assured Sri Lanka is sure reach great heights, he added. He thanked, Vice President of AFC Manilal Fernando and Rukmal Perera, Director, Media FFSL along CEO Chrysantha Perera, President Gamini Randeni for the yeoman services rendered to make this event a success in Sri Lanka.

AFL Vice President and Chairman Management Committee FFSL thanked delegation of FIFA experts for educating the soccer family in Sri Lanka on various important matters.

He requested the delegation not to have a full stop here but to have evaluation of the workings of our team as a future date which can be decided on a later date.

He also added that World Soccer governing body's chief Joseph's Blatter's two earlier concepts have brought in good results in promoting the game all over the World.

This third concept too will bring in good results provided that all concerned parties gather everything what dished out to them. He also did not forget to thank all participant who took their time off for three long days which everyone should appreciate.
