The Sri Lanka Army yesterday offered another opportunity for Army deserters from the Western Province to receive their legitimate resignation from the Army. According to the announcement, those who deserted other ranks of the Sri Lanka Army until August 1, 2003, and the recruits who deserted during training sessions will get a chance to get their legitimate resignation from May 17 to 28. This opportunity will be provided for those who had failed to receive their legitimate resignation during the previous de-listing period, the Army Headquarters said in a press release. According to the press release, names of other ranks and recruits selected for de-listing will continued to be displayed at the District Secretariats of Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha from May 17 to 28. De-listing procedure will only be conducted at the Army Recruiting Office, Malay Street, Colombo from 9 am to 4 pm. Payments, if any were to be made to the Government and Regiments by those who come for de-listing, should be directly made at the De-listing Office on the respective day. Similarly, any due remuneration or other benefits, entitled to those who come for de-listing is to be made by the Army along with the issue of de-listing certificate and other certificates. Those seeking their legitimate resignation from the Army should produce their Army identity card, two passport size photos and photo copy of the bank account book, the release added. |
