Six killed, 30 hurt in B'desh stampede DHAKA, Monday (Reuters) At least six women were killed and 30 injured in a stampede on Monday triggered by a fire at a garment factory in the Bangladesh capital, police said. "The tragic incident occurred when workers, mostly women, tried to rush out through narrow stairs after a fire sparked at a godown (warehouse) for cotton on the other side of the street," a police inspector said. The fire was put out immediately by firefighters, but it caused panic among over a thousand workers in the six-storey building housing six garment factory units. |
