The Supreme Court decided to call observations from the two lawyers who appeared for Telecom Chairman Thilanga Sumathipala on a Poya Day where he was acquitted by an Additional Magistrate and District Judge of Colombo, Supreme Court sources said. According to the sources the Court would send them letters in this regard. Fifty three former Parliamentarians including Colombo District MP Arjuna Ranatunga complained that the lawyers who had appeared for Sumathipala had sought irregular and unethical means in getting him released. Petitioners sought the Supreme Court to issue a rule on the two lawyers. |
