When six full moons of Vesak fade away

O beloved!
To some, you are a nightingale
But to me, as I doth see,
You have surpassed that simile
The meaning of the lyrics
Sung with your voice so melodious
Gave new spirit in appreciation
of its sweetness!
O visit my musical hermitage once more
and bring back your talent
and that sweetness
from the banks of the Milky Way,
When you doth sing in tune and rhythm
and which suits rightly the tempo
the nymphs doth play their divine veena so merrily,
Our abode with fragrance of
the Queen of Night
doth fill when midnight arrives
and doors and windows swing open in embrace
But you are not to be seen
in this surrounding,
There is but loneliness and void,
O beloved, stretched thou your hands
for hearts frustrated
from jealousies and complexes superior,
Your values complete with
the flower of flame
forever spreads with its fragrance
in the field of music;
Giving alms is the root to dissolve all sin,
And no celebrations or carnivals doth the Buddha approve
To this precept did we adhere to ever since;
Full moons of six Vesak days had passed by
And my heart weeps so solemnly
with tears enjoining,
Where is the light that illumined this home,
that beacon in this abode,
My sight hath once more regained
to pen this verse to you
of the world and reality,
O beloved Kalyani
Where art thou, gone away from us!
