Five new secretaries appointed to ministries

President Chandrika Bandranaike Kumaratunga appointed five new Ministry Secretaries on Wednesday under Article 52 (1) of the Constitution.

These senior officials will function as Chief Executives of their Ministries and will be responsible for all financial and administrative functions.

The new UPFA Ministers and their Deputies took oaths on Wednesday before the President at President's House, Colombo.

The five new secretaries are: M.S. Jayasinghe (Ministry of Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation), N. Bambarawanage (Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources), A.P.A. Gunasekera (Ministry of Cultural Affairs and National heritages), W. Guruge (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation) and Tissa Warnasuriya (Ministry of Small and Rural Industries)
