SriLankan Airlines women's cagers to tour Germany and Luxembourg

The SriLankan Airlines women's basketball team will make a 12-day tour of Germany and Luxembourg in September, 2004.

The SriLankan Airlines cagers will play six matches against club teams in Trier, Munich and Luxembourg during the tour.

The SriLankan Airlines women's cagers who are being coached by Shirantha Peiris have been taking part in the Mercantile tournaments and this tour will give them the much needed foreign exposure.

The SriLankan Airlines women cagers will also promote Sri Lanka as a tourist destination and urge the six clubs to make reciprocal tours to Sri Lanka.

The SriLankan Airlines team comprises Malanie Devadason, Hiruni Perera, Achini Perera, Subashi Sebastian, Hafeeda Boosa and Rochelle Fernando with Hyacinth Kuruppu as Manageress. Four more players will be picked later.

The tour is being organised by Guido Hahn, a 25-year-old student from Trier, Germany who is attached to the Asian German Sports Exchange Programme with the assistance of Stephy Rottmeier from Munich and Samantha Rupasri, the Manageress of the Indoor Stadium, Marawila.
