Four JVP Ministers take oaths tomorrow

Four JVP Ministers and their Deputies will take their oaths before President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga tomorrow.

Anura Dissanayake will be the Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Irrigation, Vijitha Herath Minister of Cultural Affiars and National Heritage, K.D. Lal Kantha Minister of Rural Economy and Rural Industries and Chandradasa Wijesinghe Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. Their Deputies will be Bimal Ratnayake, Samantha Vidyaratne, Sunil Hadunnetti and Nihal Galappathy.

This followed the JVP politburo ratifying a decision taken at a meeting between senior members of the JVP and the SLFP presided by the President at President's House yesterday afternoon.

Political sources said the deadlock was resolved with the agreement that the subject of Mahaweli Development is held by the SLFP and an Authority will consist of officials of Mahaweli Development and the Agricultural Ministry.
