by Asanga Warnakulasuriya An unidentified gang shot dead two youth in Paliyapitiya, Rathgama on Sunday night, Rathgama Police said. Three others including a child sustained injuries. Police yesterday said the two youth were shot dead around 8.30 pm on Sunday while they were watching television at their home. The gang who had arrived in a car had forcibly entered the house and had fired seven to eight shots using a T56 and 9mm pistol, Police said. The gang had fled following the shooting, Police added. The motive behind the killing is said to be linked to underworld connections, Police said. So far no one has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. On the directions of the Southern Range DIG, D. W. Prathapasingha, Police are continuing investigations. |
