BOI to be showcase for efficiency - Anura Bandaranaike Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Promotion Anura Bandaranaike expressed his desire for the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) to be a showcase institution for efficiency, honesty and courtesy, at a meeting with Chairman/Director General Lalith De Mel and the senior management staff of the BOI, yesterday, at the BOI offices at the World Trade Centre. The Minister said that the government was as per its Manifesto, committed towards encouraging foreign investment into the country and that the BOI's role was critical in improving the economy and generating employment, which is one of the key concerns of the people. "The BOI is one of the chief engines of growth in the country and I seek your cooperation in ensuring that investors who are keen to establish a presence within the country do not go elsewhere" the Minister said, adding that a pragmatic approach must be adopted in solving any investor -related issues. The Minister thanked his predecessors for their contribution towards ensuring the success of the BOI and its role in the development of the country's economy. Chairman/Director General BOI Lalith De Mel said that the BOI will adopt a strategy that promotes the comparative advantages of investing in the country, whilst simultaneously understanding any comparative disadvantages, in order to enhance investor perception which is the key factor impacting foreign direct investment. |
