'We will fight for self rule'

Tamil National Alliance Parliamentary Group Leader R. Sambandan congratulating Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara for assuming the high office, said they will fight for self-rule.

He said: "At the last General Election, 95 percent of the people in the North and East supported the TNA and sent 22 members to achieve a task. I thank them for their overwhelming support extended to our members".

Sambandan said the people in the North and East should be given self-rule in their traditional areas.

"We must achieve this task from the mandate given to us. No injustice should be done to the people in the North and East. They were living like refugees in the past. They should be resettled in their places," he added.

"The interim Administration should be established to achieve the self- rule. A political turmoil erupted after the draft Interim Administration proposal was introduced," he added.

Therefore, this election result showed the need to establish the Interim Administration, Sambandan said.
