15th NACA Governing Council meeting in Lanka

The fifteenth Governing Council meeting of the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) will be held in Sri Lanka from April 24 to 25 at Hotel Suisse Kandy. The NACA Governing Council meeting was preceded by an Aquaculture Development Seminar on the theme "Aquaculture for Rural Development - Way Forward for Sri Lanka" which was held on April 21 and 22 at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

The Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia and the Pacific (NACA) is an inter-governmental organisation that promotes rural development through sustainable aquaculture. NACA seeks to improve rural income, increase food production and foreign exchange earnings through the promotion, development and diversification of rural aquaculture farming practices. The ultimate beneficiaries of NACA activities are the farmers and rural communities.

Sri Lanka is the next Chairman of the Governing Council. This is the second time that the NACA Governing Council meeting is held in Sri Lanka, the first being in 1999.
