News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | Children's lobby for quality education Over three hundred children from all over the country, who congregated at the BMICH, Colombo last Tuesday, 20th April put forward many issues affecting their education. They presented their recommendations for achieving quality education for all children in Sri Lanka before an audience comprising three new Cabinet Ministers: Minister of Urban Development and Power Supply, Dinesh Gunawardene, Minister of Power and Energy Susil Premajayantha, and Minister of Agricultural Marketing Development, Hindu Affairs and Tamil Language Schools Vocational Training North, Douglas Devananda, some members of Civil Society, parents and their peers. The lobbying took place as part of Global Action Week (Apr 19 - Apr 25) organized by the Global campaign for education, in 100 countries on the same day. The event was organized by the Global Campaign for education, National Lobby of Sri Lanka, supported by Commonwealth Education Fund with Save the Children in Sri Lanka and Children's groups of plan Sri Lanka, Sarvodaya Women's Movement and several other voluntary organizations. |
