CWA calls on working class to rally round UPFA

The Ceylon Workers Alliance (CWA) has called upon the working class to rally round the UPFA to carry on with its development projects shedding all differences.

Issuing a Media release, CWA Administrative Director R.K. Suresh states:

The United Peoples Freedom Alliance, which obtained strong mandate of the law-abiding and progressive masses of this Country have already made elaborate arrangements with the unstinted co-operation and goodwill of its allied parties to form the 13th parliament on April 22, today and the Ceylon Workers Alliance greets the victory of the CWA and invoke the blessing almighty for the smooth functioning of the UPFA Administration un-interruptedly, stated R.K. Suresh, Director Administration of Ceylon Workers Alliance and the General Secretary of Ceylon Estate staff Association in a press release.

Suresh said that the people of this country have pinned their confidence and trust in President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, as she was committed to go ahead with the stalled peace process, root out corruption and malpractices and bring a permanent solution to the burning and pressing problems of the people. The present Government possesses academics, educationists, intellectuals and matured politicians.

The masses of this country believe that the President and the Government will accomplish the promises given to the people through the election manifesto. The plantation workers, who were neglected and betrayed by the previous Government will have solutions found to their problems. They are backwarded socially, economically and educationally and their basic problems keep mounting day by day without any hope of getting resolved.

In his statement Suresh further said that the estate staff are neglected in every respect and they are reluctantly compelled to vacate their dwellings at the time of retirement. We hope that they would re-commence the housing project, which was initiated by the PA, during the tenure of their office.

He called upon the working class of the country to rally round UPFA to carry on with their development projects forgetting their petty religious, party, caste and creed differences.
