| Housing and irrigation problems will be solved - Minister Ferial Ashraff Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia special corr. The housing problem of this country including the North-East Provinces will be solved by this Government, said Ferial Ashraff, Minister of Housing and Construction Industry, Eastern Province Education and Irrigation Development when she assumed duties at the Ministry office at "Sethsripaya" Battaramulla. She said at the press conference held after the assumption of duties that the manifesto of the UPFA indicated that 300,000 (three hundred thousand) houses should be constructed to solve the urgent need of this country. She said that she has observed various shortcomings in the system of Irrigation. She had a plan to develop the Irrigation system for the benefit of farmers and the development of Agriculture. Housing Deputy Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera and Ministry Secretary Malika Karunarathne also addressed the gathering. Deputy Minister of Media Segu Issadeen and Governor of Western Province Alavi Moulana were present. |
