Lankan business delegation leaves for Canton Trade Fair A business delegation comprising 60 businessmen/ women from all over Sri Lanka left the country on April 15 to attend the Canton Trade Fair in Guangzhou, China. The delegation is organised by the Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) of the North Western Province for the seventh consecutive time. The Chinese Export Commodities Fair, also called Canton Fair, is held twice a year in Spring and Autumn since it was inaugurated in the Spring of 1957. It is China's largest trade fair of the highest level, with the most complete varieties and of the largest attendance and business turnover. The fair covers about 150,000 sq/m with over 7,000 trade stalls. Over 130,000 people from 188 countries visited the last fair in October 2003 and the value of confirmed business transactions during the fair was US$ 17 billion. ISB will take another delegation to attend the Canton Trade Fair, in October this year. |
