Velammal group of Chennai here by Anjana Gamage The Velammal group in Chennai, India renowned for benchmarking high tec schools in Southern India announced their newest offering - the Velammal International School which will commence on June 28. This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Velammal International School, Lt.Col. Apurva Verma at a press conference held at the Taj Samudra recently. "In the words of our Chairman Shri MV Muthurmalingam, the difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary is just a little extra. Our visit to Sri Lanka is our part of effort to build bridges of knowledge and culture between Sri Lanka and India. Velammal International school will provide parents an opportunity to give quality international education with State-of-the-Art residential and extra curricular activities to their wards, not so far away from home. The immense interest expressed by the people of Sri Lanka has prompted us to make this special visit and admissions are now open for classes four to nine. In the years to come, we will set up a branch of Velammal International in Sri Lanka as well", he said. The Velammal Educational trust was set up in 1986 with 13 teachers and 183 students. Later, the trust has expanded to nine educational institutions now catering to 21,000 students with over 1,000 staff. The engineering college of the group has been rated as number 1 in the Anna University among the 234 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. |
