President condoles

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga conveyed her sympathies on the death of electronic media journalist, Tissa Jayawardena in a personal letter to his wife, Sandhya Umayangani.

"The late Tissa Jayawardena had won a reputation as an able news announcer and commentator attached to the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation for more than a decade.

His service as an environmental journalist was excellent. His daily program Parisara Sirisara broadcast over the SLBC was extremely popular among the listeners", the President stated in her letter.

The letter stated: "Tissa Jayawardena who joined the SLBC as an announcer, exhibited his talents and versatility in many positions he held at the SLBC. His untimely demise is a loss to the SLBC.

I express my deep condolence to you, your daughters Poornima Erangi and Erandi Poorna and all friends and relations of the bereaved family as well as to the entire staff of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. I wish Tissa Jayawardena the Eternal Bliss of Nibbana."
