First AGM of Sri Lanka Cricket The first annual general meeting of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), formerly the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka will be held at the SLC headquarters, Maitland Place at 5.00 p.m. today. The BCCSL was renamed SLC soon after the last AGM in June, 2003. With the exception of the vice president's post for which three persons are contesting for two posts, the rest of the main office bearers are uncontested. Former Test cricketer Aravinda de Silva, Trevor Rajaratnam and Michael de Zoysa are the three contesting for the posts. Overall, this will be the 54th AGM of the Cricket Board. Mohan de Silva who is the current secretary is expected to be elected president of SLC succeeding Thilanga Sumathipala who is not contesting. The contestants for the main body are virtually the same with the majority of them changing the posts they are holding at present. The only change is the return of Nuski Mohamed to the post of treasurer. Mohamed was treasurer and then secretary during the period when the late Gamini Dissanayake was President of the Cricket Board in the eighties. There will be a contest for the special committees - tournament, umpiring, tour organising and sponsorship. An intense contest is expected for the tour organising committee with 11 persons vying for five posts. Umpires Committee (5 persons/7 contesting): A.R.M. Aroos, Rupenath Wickremaratne, ASelva Perumal, Kavindra Liyanage, Lal Ranasinghe, Rochana Jayawardena, Nihal Pathirage. Tour Organising Committee (5 persons/11 contesting): Roland Perera, Aruna de Silva, Kavindra Liyanage, Sunil Mohotti, S.H. Dawoodbhoy, Priyantha Zoysa, Hirantha Fernando, Senarath Alwis, Wasanthalal Fernando, Neville Goonawardene (Dr.) Lal Ranasinghe.
