The United National Front cannot prevent this great and historical victory. Not only the people in South but also people in North and East have come forward to support the Freedom Alliance overpowering the election rackets played by the UNF, said Vijitha Herath. Normal procedure during the election is to give promises and seek votes, but the difference in the Freedom Alliance is to fulfil the given promises with the participation of the people, Herath said. Herath promised that he would look into the hardships facing the Textile July Strikers and he would make arrangements to get their due wages from 1989 to 1995 as per Public Administration Circular Nos. 32/89/07 and 08. The aim of the forthcoming Freedom Alliance government will be to create a respectful society and to restore the unity among all communities, Herath said. The founder member of Textile July Strikers Welfare Society S. A. Senarathna, President L. C. Perera, Stanley Rajapaksha JP and the Secretary of the Society Bandula Kumara Attanagoda also addressed the meeting. |
