| Freedom Alliance never gives false promises - Mangala Samaraweera Akuressa group correspondent The United People's Freedom Alliance is never giving false promises to mislead the people as United National Front government, said Mangala Samaraweera, Matara district group leader of United People's Freedom Alliance. Our aim is to safeguard the country for the future generation while assuring the rights of the people and also to uplift the living standard of the people, he said. He was addressing an election meeting held at the Kalubowitiyana junction recently. He said that the UNF has sold State property and country's resources to foreigners destroying our heritage and culture. As a result of this the future generation have to face a great problem. The fertiliser price has gone up and farmers are greatly inconvenienced due to this. A bag of fertilizer sold at about Rs. 350 when the ruling period of PA has gone up to over Rs. 1,000 at present. The cost of living has also gone up and the people are undergoing hardships, he said. People suffering with various shortcomings are waiting to defeat the UNF at the forthcoming election, he said. Opposition leader of the Kotapola Pradeshiya Sabha Weerasumana Weerasinghe also spoke. |
