Ranatunga who was well-known and accepted by many Cricket pundits all over the world, as one who had the guts and courage to stand for justice of his fellow team mates in the playing field and also instrumental in building up a World Cup winning team in 1996 under his leadership, has this time chosen a different platform to team-up against corruption at national and international level. GOPAC is an organisation of over 250 parliamentarians and former parliamentarians representing over 72 countries of the world. The organisation is structured by region to build integrity and promote effective governance. GOPAC serves as the global point of contact while regional networks work to strengthen the capacity of parliamentarians to address issues of corruption. Ranatunga, is the first Sri Lankan to join GOPAC. It is expected that with his involvement, GOPAC, will be able to establish a very effective regional force in the Indian Subcontinent and work smoothly towards achieving its objectives with the cooperation of all the other parliamentary members from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
