We will fulfil people's aspirations - Mahinda

Duminda Guruge reporting from Tangalle

The United People's Freedom Alliance has plans to solve the people's problems and develop the entire country, former Opposition Leader and Freedom Alliance national co-organiser Mahinda Rajapakse said.

"Now the people have a responsibility to respect justice and fairplay and to vote for the victory of the Freedom Alliance. We will form a people-friendly Government," Rajapakse told an election rally at the Public Stadium, Tangalle.

"Your vote at this election is a decisive factor to realise the development programme envisaged in the Election Manifesto of the Freedom Alliance. I am confident that the people are rallying round us. The UNF deceived the people through false promises. The Freedom Alliance is not dishing out promises.

Our endeavour is to fulfil the aspirations of the people which have been ignored during the last two years," he added.

Sri Lanka People's Party Deputy Leader Renuka Perera, JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe, Freedom Alliance Hambantota candidates Lalith Andrahennadi, Nihal Galappatthi, Siripala Jayaweera, N.P.Thilakaratne, Mahinda Amaraweera and Vijitha Amaraweera also addressed the rally.
