Energizer invests Rs. 200 m to modernise plant

Energizer Lanka Limited, manufacturer and distributor of Energizer and Eveready batteries in Sri Lanka opened its modernised production plant recently.

The modernization of the plant enables Energizer Lanka Ltd. to manufacture the New Metal Jacked Eveready Red Battery.

The modernised plant at Ekala, Ja-Ela was ceremonially opened by Jeffrey Lunstead, US Ambassador for Sri Lanka and David White, Vice President, Energizer Asia Pacific on March 16. The conversion of the plant from paper jacket to metal jacket production capability follows the increase in consumer demand for the latter that results in longer lasting power. The company began production of Eveready Paper Jacket batteries in Sri Lanka in 1969 and has been a leading manufacturer and distributor of dry cell batteries in Sri Lanka to date.

Eveready batteries have been marketed in Sri Lanka for over 40 years and have been the household name in its category. Being a market leader in the portable power sector Energizer offers a full line of products in six major categories - Alkaline, Carbon Zinc, Miniature, Photo, Rechargeable batteries and Lighting products. Energizer Lanka Ltd. is an affiliate of Energizer Inc., USA.

David White, Vice President, Energizer Asia Pacific and Sunil P. de Alwis Managing Director - Energizer Sri Lanka were also present.
