M. Zuhair addressing a meeting at Wattala on Sunday, said, that every vote cast in favour of the UNF would be a vote for continued conflict and continued destability, which the country underwent during the past two years. This election is being held to end this problem once and for all, as the development of the country has to be urgently commenced. The meeting was held in support of FA Gampaha district candidates Anura Bandaranaike, Sripathy Sooriarachchi, and Mohamed Ikramullah. Mr. Zuhair speaking further said confrontational politics will continue no matter the assurances of the UNF leaders. "They started the confrontations at Cabinet meetings. People are angry about this. People want solutions to problems. Therefore, the Constitution has to be changed. If the UNP does not support change, people will soon condemn them to the dustbin of history." "Everyone wants the country to be developed and not to see politicians frittering away valuable time on confrontational politics. If solutions to problems and urgent development activities are to be commenced, people must elect the Freedom Alliance to take the control of Parliament as well. They must send a strong and a dedicated team from every district from the FA," he said. The SLFP and the JVP together are committed to avoid corruption and minimise waste in the public sector. The FA will soon be a model government, for other countries to emulate, Mr. Zuhair added. |
