Ranil renews unfulfilled vow UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who had failed to fulfil the vow he had made to the Sri Dalada Maligawa to offer seven golden lotuses in the event of his victory at the 2001 general election, has made the same vow this time too, it is reported. It is reported he had fulfilled the religious vow recently when he was in Kandy to address the UNPs inaugural election rally. It is said he had offered several golden lotuses supplied by one of his business friends, to the Sacred Tooth Relic. Upcountry Buddhists are rather worried about the scant regard paid to the Dalada Maligawa when the Prime Minister had failed to keep his vow as promised.
