38th Battle of Ambalangoda on March 20 and 21

Sokians come out with a better record

Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda and Devananda College play their 38th Big Match known as "Sunila Sangramaya" on March 20 and 21 at Urban Council Ground Ambalangoda. Sokians have so far won 7 matches in the series while Devananda have won one match. The last match won by Sokians was in 1998.

Upul Tharanga Warusavithana leads the Dharmasoka team. He is a 5th year coloursman left hand Opening batsman and wicket keeper of the side.

He played 4 matches this season and scored 450 runs inclusive of a double century against Richmond College and a century against Mahinda College.

He was a member of under 19 World Cup squad in 2002 and 2004. He is an attacking batsman.

He also played U 23 Asian Cup in Sri Lanka in 2003. He, played 6 matches and scored 203 runs was adjudged Man of the Match in the match against South Africa. Nalaka Thenuwara Vice Captain of the team and 4th year Colours man. Left handed opening batsman and good old rounder. He scored 675 runs this season inclusive of a century and two half centuries.

Dilan Anthony second year player opening bowling, a good right handed batsman scored over 500 runs scored a century and a half century against Mahinda College in Galle.

Devananda depend on their batting

5th year coloursman M. V. Sajith Kumara who leads Devananda is a right hand batsman and medium pace bowler.

Scored 395 this season with two half centuries against St. Aloysius and Sri Rahula Vidyalaya.

E. Sameera Nuwan Vice Captain of the side a fourth year player, bowls right hand medium pace. He has already taken over 30 wickets. His best this season was 8 wickets for 80 runs against Sri Rahula Vidyalaya.

A. Kasun Dananjaya, a second year player, wicket keeper outstanding and opening bat. Against Sri Rahula Vidyalaya scored a half century. He has made 270 runs this season.

D. P. Gurusinghe a second year player and an all-rounder left hand batsman with fine strokes.

This season has scored 607 runs.

Taken 5 wickets giving away only a single run, against Sri Rahula with an excellent performance, scored a century against Meepavela Amarasuriya Vidyalaya. D. Oslan Lasantha, A. Lochana De Silva, G. H. Krishan Kanchana H. Dinesh Vidurangha, P. Sandeepa Mihiranga, Viraj Pushpakumara, Isuru Buddika Jayaweera, Sithina Prathapa, Tharindu Nilanga Abrew are the others in the team representing Devananda college.
