GMOA makes representations

The GMOA made representations to the Secretary, Ministry of Finance, that new anomalies have been created in the health sector salary structure consequent to the recent salary revision of other sectors in the health services, which they claim affect their position in the hierarchy of Health Sector employees.

This recent revision was in response to representations made by the Health Services Trade Union Alliance (HSTUA) consisting of 54 trade unions (other than doctors) in the Health Sector.

When the HSTUA and affiliated Trade Unions like the Government Dental Surgeons Association and the Public Services Untied Nurses Union became aware of the appointment of a committee they requested urgent interviews with the committee.

To avoid a further crisis situation in the Health Sector and claims that further anomalies in salary structures have arisen, the committee gave them hearings.

The demand of the HSTUA referred to above arose from a salary increase given to Medical Officers last year.
