Royal Institute's convocation ceremony Royal Institute held its annual convocation ceremony recently at the BMICH jointly with the University of London. Prof. Dayantha S. Wijeyesekera, Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa, the chief guest outlined the significant contribution made by Royal Institute in the field of higher education and acknowledged the efforts of the staff for the academic excellence of their products. Mrs. Rosemary Gosling, Director of External Study, London School of Economics and Political Science together with Dr. David Brownrigg, Course Director, Computing and Information Systems of Goldsmiths University of London conferred the relevant degrees and diplomas on 107 successful students. The Chairman / Managing Director of Royal Institute, G. T. Bandara said that the University of London degree and diploma programs conducted by the Institute have become increasingly popular over the years due to teaching excellence. He said that he was very pleased with the results in the academic year 2003 where 72 out of 74 students passed the degree final examination with impressive results. Three students who obtained First Class Honours degrees were awarded gold medals by the chief guest while three outstanding students in the diploma program were awarded scholarships by Bandara to assist them to pursue their further studies. |
