Uni Dil wins Nagaaki Yamamoto Kaizen award

Uni Dil Packaging Ltd has won the Nagaaki Yamamoto Kaisen Award for the year 2003, at the Convention organised by the Sri Lanka-Japan Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) at the Colombo Plaza recently.

This is the second award won by Uni Dil consecutively from this organisation. They also won a Taiki Akimoto 5'S' Award in 2002.

JASTECA presents this award for the best implementation of Japanese management tools in Sri Lankan companies.

In this organisation people involved in implementing 5's participate in management through a Kaizen suggestion scheme and Quality Circles.

The high involvement of the management and the staff has been able to achieve high results in this company. Last year 90 suggestions from employees to improve production, productivity and worker welfare were implemented by the company.

The workers get involved in solving problems through quality circles, continuous improvement teams and problem solving teams. Last year 44% of employees engaged in small group activities.
