"Uththamavee" a family based teledrama with a unique plot by Somaweera Senanayake and directed by Thusitha de Silva will be telecast on Rupavahini from tomorrow (19) at 7.30 p.m. Ramyalatha is a village woman who does various jobs to live. She canoed alone and caught fish, sometimes worked in a stone quarry and hawked goods. Her husband is a chena cultivator. Often wild elephants disturbed their way of life. Her daughter is dumb. Ramyalatha's brother, Anuradha, is a young unemployed graduate. Anuradha commences a herbal medicine packeting business and gradually improves himself. He carries on a love affair with Nelum, the daughter of the Nelson Mudalali of the village who lives by vile means. Nelum is a young girl whose behaviour is completely opposite to that of her father's. Nelson is stubbornly opposed to Anuradha's and Nelum's affair. He has threatened Anuradha in many ways. Nelson Mudalali is making arrangements to give Nelum in marriage to a young businessman named Manilal who has various political connections. Meanwhile Ramyalatha's husband becomes the victim of an attack by a wild elephant. Ramyalatha's mute daughter becomes pregnant by a worthless young man. Hereafter their lives are confronted with many trials and tribulations. The cast include Wasanthi Chathurani, Suminda Sirisena, Rangana Premaratne, Nilmini Thennakoon, Niel Allas, Mahendra Perera, Gayani Gisanthika, Rukmal Nirosh, Sumith Ratnayake, Samanthi Lanarole and Niroshan Elleperuma.
