Lakshman Kadirgamar pledges: Full Freedom Alliance support for private sector Addressing leading members of the business community and
representatives of international monetary institutions at the BMICH
yesterday, Media and Communications Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar yesterday
announced that the United Peoples Freedom Alliance was committed to
private sector participation to the fullest extent and will sponsor and
promote it in every possible way in order to achieve rapid economic growth
for the country. Nearly 500,000 new voters for April polls by Anura Maitipe, Sarath Malalasekera and Chamikara Weerasinghe Nearly 500,000 new voters will be eligible to cast their ballot for the
first time at the April 2 General Election. As a result, the number of MPs
to be elected in certain districts too have changed, a spokesman for the
Election Commissioner's Department told the Daily News yesterday. Prime Minister thanks people Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe addressing the nation via the
Sirasa TV last night thanked the people of this country for placing
confidence in his Government for the past two years, in its efforts to
revive the economy and to find ways and means to bring sustained peace to
